Another Round of Lockdowns Potentially Underway

Lockdown in Israel may soon become a reality again. The Israeli Health Ministry is preparing to call for a third lockdown in Israel, given the rising number of COVID-19 cases in recent weeks. Currently, they’re looking at a three-week partial lockdown plan, which would allow some schools and private businesses to stay open.

Over 6 thousand Israelis will test positive for the virus by the end of this week. According to Deputy Health Minister Yoav Kisch, Israel’s infection rate is now the highest recorded rate over the past month and a half. The proposed lockdown will go into effect when the infection coefficient climbs to 1.3 and the number of new COVID-19 cases diagnosed each day hits 2,000. As the curve trends upward and cases climb to yesterday’s count of 1,492 new cases, we can expect to reach 2,000 cases within the next week. The Israeli Health Ministry is working to keep its citizens as safe as possible during these chaotic times.
